Our Catch Up Premium

All our efforts since March 2020 have been focused on getting ALL children back into full time school.  In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, schools have had to adapt our policies, procedures and practice to make sure it is safe for children to return.  From an academic standpoint, we have had to adapt our practice to accomodate these measures while at the same time trying to assess how children have come back.  It is widely recognised that due to the pandemic and the fact that children have missed a significant part of last year, there are inevitably gaps in learning and development.  We have targeted specific areas in school where we feel there are gaps in learning and to prepare children for their next part of their education.  Our main areas of focus are:

• Targeted support for the youngest children’s reading.

  • New RWI for home reading from F1 to Year 2

  • New RWI Resources used for F1 and F2

  • Additional Staff to target 'Recovery Group'

  • Core Texts to give children quality texts to read with an adult (Across school)

• Targeted support for Year 6

  • New member of staff to use as cover for Year 6 teachers

  • Year 6 Teachers to target specific pupils/groups of pupils to give intensive intervention

  • Gap identification and teaching of misconceptions
