Silverwood Visit 2010

The visits took place on Monday the 12th and Tuesday 13th July. The children travelled on a mini coach to the Silverwood Scout Camp kitted out with waterproof dungarees and coats and a lunch box in their hand.

On arrival children had their snack and then off we went into the woodland. The children explored the forest school site sliding, running, climbing, jumping and helping each other to get up and down the slopes. The children then went on to do a leaf hunt, they identified the leaves they found and then the children stuck the leaves onto a piece of card or some collected them. We walked backed to the hut following a different trail. On the trail back we had to cross a stream, the children decided which was the safest way to cross it and the adults helped them get across . It was then dinnertime!.

After dinner the children followed a rope trail through some trees and we did it blindfolded! some of the adults had a go too.

We then ventured back into woodland to the forest school site and the children listened to a fairy poem and we talked about the fairies that live in the woods and as everyone knows fairies live at Silverwood! Then we make houses for them using natural objects from the woodland. It was then time to collect our belongings and set off back to the bus. We walked back through a different part of the woodland and saw a squirrel. When we got back to the bus the children took off their very dirty and soggy waterproof dungarees and got back on the bus, everyone looked very tired. Then off we went back to school.

Both children and adults got very wet and dirty but we all had a great time and I’m sure they told you all about it!

Thank you for all your help and support.
